We are a Registered NDIS Provider, with recent accreditation evidencing outstanding results to the NDIS Quality Safeguards Commission Practice Standards.

Monkami is a values driven NFP disability service provider located in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. Dedicated to promoting and defending the human rights of adults with a disability, we ensure our people have greater choice, control, and freedom over their lives. We support people 24 hours a day, every day across both supported independent living services and centre-based activities. Our services and supports are focused on the achievement of individual goals and aspirations of our people.

With a clear vision, our goal is to strengthen our partnerships with participants, families, and our community to make an even greater impact on the lives of the 120+ people who benefit from our services each week.

Forming a skilled and committed Board, Directors support the CEO and staff to continue to develop the organisation and lead the way with innovative, person-centred disability services.

Due to recent resignations from experienced Directors who needed to focus on other obligations, we are now seeking to appoint a new   Director with demonstrated skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Governance and Risk
  • Strategic Planning & Business Development
  • Public Relations and Advocacy
  • Digital Marketing
  • Company Secretary

More specifically, we are seeking to appoint to the position of Board Secretary. Whilst qualifications and experience are preferred, training will be resourced for a suitable candidate. 

Importantly, in addition to your specific industry skills, you will have the professional experience to contribute to our strategic development. You will also have excellent interpersonal communication skills, possess a strong belief in the protection of human rights for all people and exhibit behaviours aligned to Monkami’s Values of Integrity, Respect, Knowledge, Compassion and Fairness.

Previous governance experience is highly desirable, preferably as a member of either a NFP Board or a Committee of Management. Preparedness to commit time and energy is essential.  At this stage, all Board positions are voluntary.


Monkami operates a stringent safety screening process for preferred candidates that will require two satisfactory professional references, an identity check, satisfactory national and international (*where required) criminal history check, an NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance and NDIS Worker Orientation certificate.

Candidates must have the right to work in Australia.  

*If candidates have lived overseas in the past 10 years for more than 12 months, a current International Police Check must be provided with application.
