Tertiary Students Monkami welcomes tertiary learning placements and has proudly established educational collaborations with Box Hill Institute and Cire Services. We host a variety of placements including Certificate IV in Disability Services and Diploma of Community Services. What can I expect as a student? During your time at Monkami, students will be provided insight to various parts of the organisation. Our induction process is designed to ensure that you, the student, receive the best possible understanding of how Monkami works and connects with the wider community. Areas of learning may include the following: · Delivery of Supported Independent Living services · Centre Based Support program streams · Enhancing communication abilities · Engaging with community programs · Building provider partnerships · Developing programs · Professional growth · Maintaining records and administrative tasks · Understanding social and public policy · Ensuring Work Health and Safety · Implementing Risk Management protocols · Handling Emergency Management procedures Placement Outcomes On completion of the placement, students will have: An increased understanding of issues of social equity and supports within the community. An understanding of the interplay between social, cultural, and psychological factors in the disability context. Knowledge of barriers faced by individuals accessing services. An understanding of social and public policy and how it impacts individuals. Develop an understanding of the different strategies and methodologies that can be used through practical application in disability work. Understand and participate in the basic process of program development, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Understand and participate in Work Health and Safety and Emergency Preparedness activities. Apply current study learning to workplace practices. Expectations Student placements must be a requirement of a student’s course of study and must be formally endorsed by the respective tertiary institution. Monkami requires that all required placement documentation (including placement agreements, safety screening and onboarding requirements) has been finalized prior to commencement. Placement will not commence without all parties maintaining a completed copy of the signed placement agreements. Students should expect that they; Will receive a high- quality learning experience. Will be treated with respect by Monkami staff. Will be supervised by experienced and qualified staff throughout the placement. Mandatory Requirements If successful, prior to commencement, students must have; Current Level 2 First Aid and CPR Satisfactory NDIS Worker Screening Clearance Completed the NDIS QSC Worker Orientation Module ‘Quality, Safety and You’ e-learning Completed the NDIS QSC Supporting Safe and Enjoyable Meals e-learning Completed the NDIS Zero Tolerance (Human Rights) e-learning Complete Monkami's Safety Screening Requirements.
