Monkami, situated in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, is a non-profit, registered NDIS disability service provider. Our purpose is centered on upholding the human rights of adults with disabilities, fostering greater autonomy, choice, and freedom in their lives. We offer round-the-clock support through both supported independent living services and centre-based activities, with a dedicated focus on helping individuals achieve their unique goals and aspirations.

With a well-defined vision, we aim to enhance our collaborations with participants, families, and the community, striving to make a more significant impact on the lives of those benefiting from our services.

THE ROLE

Monkami is inviting qualified individuals with proven experience within the disability sector to become a member of our valued team.

Positions currently open include:

  • Center Based Supports – 45.6 hours per fortnight
  • Supported Independent Living – 57 hours per fortnight
  • SIL / CBS – 42.70 hours and 39.70 hours per fortnight (includes sleepovers and day shifts)

The ideal candidate will adeptly and professionally offer person-centred, flexible, and innovative support services to individuals living with disabilities.

  • Support people with disabilities in achieving their personal goals
  • Assist individuals with their daily routines, including providing personal care
  • Encourage and support people in decision-making about the services they receive
  • Implement plans that offer meaningful activities based on participants' choice, interests, and abilities

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • A commitment to human rights principles
  • Have understanding of the NDIS Act 2013 and related legislation, as well as quality frameworks/practice standards
  • Experience with person-centred planning, behaviour support, and medication administration
  • Ability to engage participants in a collaborative, positive, and respectful manner
  • Experience in supporting individuals to achieve personal goals, with a focus on those with intellectual disabilities
  • Expertise in managing behaviours of concern and developing strategies for optimal outcomes
  • Proficiency in providing personal care support
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for effective networking with staff, families, and other professionals
  • Ability to build and manage relationships within a team environment
  • Creative and critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office suite, LUMARY, and remote learning platforms.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • minimum qualification of Certificate IV Disability;
  • minimum 2 years work experience in providing support services to people with a disability within a residential setting;
  • current First Aid Level 2 certification;
  • current CPR certification;
  • a full Victorian Driver Licence;
  • Full Working rights in Australia, no restrictions as verified in VEVO
  • International Police Check ( where required ) and current within 3 months of report issue date
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance;
  • NDIS Worker Orientation module.

SAFETY SCREENING

Monkami operates a stringent safety screening process for preferred candidates that will require two satisfactory current professional references, an identity check, qualification check, satisfactory national and international (where required) criminal history checks. Candidates must have the right to work in Australia.
